Opera in the Paddock

The 'paddock' is a part of our family property which is situated west of Inverell and near the town of Delungra in Northern New South Wales. The area where we live and where the concert is held has a serenity, an ambience and a beautiful natural acoustic.

As a professional singer for many years and married to a farmer (hence residing in the paddock!), it was a dream of ours for a number of years to hold an open air concert on the spot. March 16th 2002 saw the inaugural performance of ‘Opera in the Paddock with approximately 700 people in the audience.

The overwhelming response to this first concert encouraged us to develop the concept further. Our main aim is to bring to the bush, top quality artists in a superb natural Australian bush setting.

From this inaugural concert, the event has grown from four artists to six singers, a small instrumental ensemble, a pianist and compere - this year in total eighteen performers with audience numbers between 1400 and 1850.

Opera in the Paddock is now run by the non profit company Opera North West Ltd. which has also Deductible Gift Recipient Status.
