ABOUT US From its first performance in 2002, Opera in the Paddock has now become an integral part of the annual arts calendar of North West NSW. The 'paddock' is a part of the family property Mimosa situated west of Inverell. The serenity, ambience and a natural acoustic of the paddock provided the inspiration for the initial event in 2002. Organisers, opera singer, Peta Blyth and farmer, Bill Blyth recognised its potential and from its beginnings have aimed each year to produce a highly professional music event. From its humble beginnings featuring two singers, a flautist and pianist, the number of performers has expanded over the years and will number twenty – two for the 2009 event Initially attracting a predominantly local audience, the event now draws patrons from throughout regional NSW, interstate, metropolitan areas and in more recent years, some overseas visitors. In 2008, in addition to the main opera event, a recital given by the artists was held on the Friday night at the Inverell Town Hall. The popularity of this recital will ensure its continuance Opera in the Paddock is run by the non profit company Opera North West Ltd. which has also Deductible Gift Recipient Status. In recent years, the company has broadened the scope of its activities to other concerts and events in venues both indoor and out. OUR SPONSORS
